Commissioner calls on community

Commissioner for Victims of Crime Jennifer Hoffman will hold a Law Week event at which people who work, live, and socialise with victims of crime will be encouraged to find out how to help and support them.

The Commissioner has called for members of the public, including community organisations, sporting clubs and local government representatives, to attend a free meeting with herself and the Victims of Crime Reference Group.

“Last year, for my first Law Week event, it was important to give victims of crime the opportunity to meet me and members of the group and to get an idea of our priorities for better supporting them in their interaction with the justice system,” Ms Hoffman said.

“This year, I am extending the invitation out further to the organisations which come into contact with victims of crime, whether it’s the local football club or perhaps a local council.

“It would be great if representatives of these organisations can come along, learn a bit more about the issues and what help is available,” the Commissioner said.

The morning tea will be held at the Holiday Inn on Monday 16 May at 788 Hay Street in Perth between 10am and 11:30am.

Bookings are essential and must be confirmed by 6 May on 9264 1600 or
